Closing the Monitoring Gap: The Role of Cardiac Telemetry in Managing Rising Patient Acuity at Inpatient Rehabilitation Facilities

Inpatient rehabilitation facilities are caring for increasingly complex patients, creating a need for greater visibility into patient status between routine assessments without compromising the intensive therapy and mobility that define rehabilitation care.

To better understand this challenge, Vios Medical partnered with the American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association (AMRPA) to survey 80 inpatient rehabilitation leaders nationwide.

The Monitoring Gap

Rising cardiac and cardiopulmonary patient complexity and within-stay readmissions are widespread concerns. Facilities are relying on intermittent monitoring, while confidence and visibility with current monitoring approaches remain limited.

Elevating Patient Care and Outcomes

Clinical benefits of cardiac telemetry are the top priorities, including preventing readmissions through timely alerts and intervention, strengthening clinical decision-making, and building confidence in caring for appropriately selected higher-acuity patients.

Rehabilitation Fit

Realizing that value will require more than technology alone; leaders report successful adoption will depend on rehabilitation-friendly design, clear clinical protocols, training, support, and a scalable implementation model.

The results of the survey point to a growing need for inpatient rehabilitation facilities to align their monitoring capabilities with the increasing clinical complexity of the patients they serve.
